For The Love of All Things Wine
We believe that the joy that comes from drinking wine is largely due to situation during which it is drunk. Whether it be toasting to a lifetime of love, sharing in good company, complimenting a fabulous dish or breathing a sigh of relief after a long day - it's the piece de resistance that says life is good and it is from this motivation that The Wine Registry was born.
Everything we have set out to achieve comes from a greater understanding of the value of your personal experiences and so we bring to you product and a service which will promote your love of wine and guide you to ensure every sip is pure satisfaction.
We believe that you don't have to be a connoisseur to appreciate a good wine, but it certainly helps when it comes to making good choices! We appreciate the vast choice and array of wines, grape varieties, production methods, terroir and longevity one has to consider when starting or adding to your wine collection. Our team has the knowledge in order to suggest the perfect array of wines for your specific palette and that will keep you celebrating with perfectly matured wines anniversary after anniversary. Of course we also appreciate that drinking wine is a celebration in itself and can select the easier drinking every day wines that won't break the bank and are extremely kind to the palette, so that no excuses are needed to just enjoy the good life.
Our Team
Gill Gant grew up in the wine industry and has for many years now been an enthusiast of all aspects of the fruit of the vine - and in particular a great supporter of our abundant selection of South African wines.
She was until recently a partner of the Oude Libertas wine shop in Stellenbosch and consequently exposed to the many new exiting releases, the established and brilliant and the ever-increasing selection of relatively unknown and possibly underrated wines available.
A student of life and wine, Anne Alessandri has spent a good few years working in restaurants and wine shops in South Africa and England, serving, tasting and enjoying wine. She completed her B.Sc in Oenology and Viticulture at Stellenbosch University, and went on to study her Honours in Viticulture, with a focus on the sensory aspect of wine. Anne is a qualified wine judge, judging for the Wine magazine, SAWIS and Nietvoorbij, amongst others.
Anne brings her understanding of wine lovers to the table in helping clients of the wine registry assess their needs and wants for wine.
